Low cost & free Psychology Services
With cost of living expenses increasing, there is more demand than ever for affordable psychology services.
Depending on your circumstances, there are a few options for accessing therapy at a reduced cost.
We ensure that there are no waiting lists at Graham Psychology, so that when you need mental health support, it’s available to you at a price point that is affordable.
Better Access Initiative - Medicare Rebate
The Better Access Initiative gives Medicare benefits to eligible individuals, who can claim a Medicare rebate for up to 10 psychology services per calendar year. To access the rebate, you must see a GP who will then review your need for mental health support and provide you with a Mental Health Care Plan.
If you intend to claim the rebate, you will need to provide a copy of the plan to our administration team and they will process your rebate when they take your payment.
As of May 2026, the rebate is:
$98.97 to see a General Psychologist
$145.25 to see a Clinical Psychologist
Private Health Insurance
If you have Mental Health as an extra on your Private Health Insurance plan, you may be eligible for a partial rebate. You should check with your insurance provider as to what the rebate is you will receive.
Some individuals may choose to utilise a Mental Health Care Plan to claim the rebate on 10 sessions, before utilising their Private Health Insurance to continue their appointments.
Provisional Psychologists
At Graham Psychology, we have a number of Provisional Psychologists who are completing their final year of training in clinic. Appointments start at $80 a session and don’t require a Mental Health Care Plan. For those who are not eligible for a MHCP, or don’t wish to claim the Medicare rebate, this is an affordable way to still access support.
Our Provisional Psychologists are paired with a Board Approved Supervisor, who they meet with on a regular basis. A supervisor also approves all treatment plans and assessment reports. We intentionally allocate Provisional Psychologists a manageable client load with dedicated time to plan and reflect on sessions, unpack with supervisors and research new strategies for their clients.
All of our Provisional Psychologists have immediate capacity for new clients meaning you don’t have to wait to access the mental health support you need.
Payment Plans & Additional Support
If the above options are not suitable for your circumstances, please reach out to our Admin team either via email or phone call and they will be able to assist in setting up a plan to reduce financial barriers.
