We’re thrilled to be launching our partnership with Hawthorn Amateur Football Club, a local AFL club in Melbourne’s inner-east. The partnership builds on the club’s pre-existing strong foundation of their mental health program that was established in 2010, following the suicide of three community members.

The Wings Program focusses on delivering mental health education, reducing stigma and increasing access to mental health services. A core component of this is their Wings Mental Health Fund; a way for players, coaches, volunteers and supporters to access counselling, psychology and psychiatry services at no cost to the individual. Instead, fundraising throughout the year and from donors, enables the club to pay for the out-of-pocket cost.

While both Graham Psychology and the Hawks want to see more conversations about mental health had openly and eliminate the stigma around asking for help, we recognise that not all individuals will seek the support of the Wings Fund without anonymity. Our partnership allows for Hawks community members to access psychology services at any of our clinics in Doncaster, Ringwood or Narre Warren or via telehealth, completely anonymously.

We’re extremely proud of this partnership and hope to see many lives changed due to the increased accessibility and affordability of psychology services.
