Respect and Zero Tolerance of Abuse Policy

Graham Psychology is committed to providing a safe and respectful workplace for all employees, contractors, and anyone who interacts with our practice. We believe that every person deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, and we have zero tolerance for any form of abuse, including stalking, harassment, discrimination, or bullying.

Definition of Abuse:

Abuse refers to any behaviour that is intended to harm, intimidate, or control another person. This includes physical, verbal, emotional, or sexual abuse, as well as unwanted behaviours that reduce an individual's autonomy or sense of security (eg. stalking). Abuse may also involve discrimination or harassment based on a person's race, gender, age, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or any other characteristic protected by law.

Expectations:

We expect all employees, contractors, and anyone who interacts with our practice to always behave in a respectful manner. Specifically, we expect:

- No form of aggression, abuse, stalking, harassment, discrimination, or bullying will be tolerated.

- All complaints of abuse will be taken seriously, and any reports of abuse will be thoroughly investigated.

- All employees and contractors will cooperate with investigations and provide accurate information to investigators.

- Retaliation against anyone who reports abuse or participates in an investigation will not be tolerated.

- All employees, contractors and clients will comply with our Respect and Zero Tolerance of Abuse Policy and with all applicable laws and regulations related to harassment and discrimination prevention.

Consequences:

Any employee or contractor who engages in aggression, abuse, stalking, harassment, discrimination, or bullying will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment or contract. Any client who engages in aggression, abuse, stalking, harassment, discrimination, or bullying will be asked to leave the premises/phone call terminated, will be liable for any relevant session fees and will not be able to book any further appointments with Graham Psychology. Any person who engages in criminal behaviour will be reported to the appropriate law enforcement authorities. We reserve the right to take legal action against any person who engages in aggression, abuse, stalking, harassment, discrimination, or bullying. We will cooperate fully with any law enforcement investigations.

Reporting:

If you have experienced or witnessed any form of aggression, abuse, stalking, harassment, discrimination, or bullying, please report it immediately to management, a lead psychologist, or supervisor. If you are uncomfortable reporting to your direct manager, you may speak with any member of senior management. All reports will be investigated promptly, thoroughly, and impartially.
